King Features Announces the Publication of SNUFFY SMITH IN HIS SUNDAY BEST The Third Snuffy Smith Anthology by John Rose

This is the third bodacious collection of King Features’ popular, long-running BARNEY GOOGLE AND SNUFFY SMITH comic strip by John Rose. In this 200-page volume, Rose selects his favorite Sunday comic strips from 2004-2017. Back cover text was written by Marcus Hamilton and Ron Ferdinand, cartoonists for the DENNIS THE MENACE comic strip.

Snuffy’s Paw!

Some characters I have brought back to the comic strip after very long absences are: Barney Google (top left), Snuffy’s Maw (top right), Bizzy Buzz Buzz (bottom left) and Granny Creeps (bottom right).

Over the many years that I have been the cartoonist for the Barney Google and Snuffy Smith comic strip, I have enjoyed bringing back characters to the comic strip that haven’t appeared in a very long time. This comic strip has such a long, rich history that it’s a lot of fun to look through vintage strips for characters to bring back for either short visits or as recurring characters.

Snuffy Smith And Prince Valiant Together!

Dr. Stan Galloway, Thomas Yeates and I really had fun speaking to the crowd at Cole Hall on the campus of Bridgewater College.

On Thursday, February 8th, I had the honor of lecturing along with fellow King Features cartoonist, the incredible Thomas Yeates of Prince Valiant, at Bridgewater College as part of their “Drawing Comics For A Living” presentation. I would like to thank Dr. Stan Galloway, Professor Of English and Director Of Convocations, for inviting both Thomas and I to speak to the enthusiastic audience in attendance.
