I’ve had a busy and exciting week speaking to students of all ages about cartooning!  I was invited to speak at Culpeper Christian School by my niece and nephew, Emma and Alex Rose, who both attend the school.  I did a Snuffy Smith Chalk Talk for the whole school (grades Pre-K through 8) in the morning.  Then, later in the day, I worked with the gifted art students teaching them how to draw political caricatures and also how to create the characters in the Snuffy Smith comic strip.  What a talented group of young artists!  You can read all about my visit to Culpeper in The Star-Exponent newspaper (a Snuffy Smith comic strip subscriber) here.

Barney Google and Snuffy Smith cartoonist, John Rose, will speak at the Rockbridge Regional Public Library as part of their “Beating The Winter Blahs” series. Rose will speak about his career as a cartoonist, show samples of his work and then create drawings on a large tablet for the audience of the characters in his popular Snuffy Smith comic strip.  He will also have copies of his book, The Bodacious Best Of Snuffy Smith available.
