Snuffy Smith And Prince Valiant Together!

Dr. Stan Galloway, Thomas Yeates and I really had fun speaking to the crowd at Cole Hall on the campus of Bridgewater College.

On Thursday, February 8th, I had the honor of lecturing along with fellow King Features cartoonist, the incredible Thomas Yeates of Prince Valiant, at Bridgewater College as part of their “Drawing Comics For A Living” presentation. I would like to thank Dr. Stan Galloway, Professor Of English and Director Of Convocations, for inviting both Thomas and I to speak to the enthusiastic audience in attendance. I would also like to thank audience members Terry Tucker and her son Billy for taking many of these photos from the evening:

A Cartoony Christmas For Me!

You can see that, as a professional cartoonist, a lot of the Christmas gifts I ask for and receive are comic and cartoon related. And I wouldn’t have it any other way! I love it! Above are some of the wonderful comic strip collections and books I was lucky enough to get this year. With three out of the four being King Features strips, (Zits, Hagar and Prince Valiant) I really had a King Features Comics Christmas!  In addition to these items, I also received several animated films on DVD: Despicable Me 3, It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Cars 3. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!

!968 Snuffy Smith Sales Kit!

The fun cover of the sales kit brochure.

A bodacious recent eBay find of mine is this 1968 Snuffy Smith Sales Brochure!  It would have been part of a sales kit that King Features Syndicate mailed out to newspapers or gave to newspaper editors personally in 1968 to encourage them to purchase the comic strip.
