Hearin’ Th’ Laughter!

Discussing one of my favorite Snuffy Smith comic strips with the audience as it is projected on the screen.

This past week I had the opportunity to do a Snuffy Smith Chalk Talk presentation to the Rotary Club Of Harrisonburg (VA).  They are a wonderful group of folks.  As I presented samples of my work, I really enjoyed hearing the laughter of the crowd.  As a cartoonist, I am often alone in my studio creating comic strips and I wonder if people find them as funny as I do.  So it is a lot of fun to get out and speak to groups and actually hear the laughter and know that others really find the strip funny, too!  This presentation was a lot of fun…in fact you could say it was a hoot an’ a holler!

Speakin’ Engagement!!

On Monday, March 13th at 11:45 am, I will be speaking to the Harrisonburg (VA) Rotary Club at the Elks Lodge in Harrisonburg at 482 South Main Street. I will be doing a Chalk Talk where, after a brief description of how I got into cartooning as a career, I will show samples of my cartoons, featuring my work on the Snuffy Smith comic strip. Then I will draw the characters on a large easel for the audience.  If your community organization or civic group is looking for an entertaining speaker, please click on the “Contact” button above and ask me for details about my program.  It’s a real hoot an’ a holler!

NRCC Comic Con Photos!

Last weekend, for the third year in a row, I was a guest cartoonist at the New River Community College Comic Con, in Dublin, VA (outside Roanoke).  I drew sketches, signed books, gave a Snuffy Smith Chalk Talk presentation and met LOTS of wonderful fans of comics and comic art!  It was a truly fun, event-filled weekend!  Here are some photos from this year’s NRCC Comic Con:
