Barney Google and Snuffy Smith Cartoonist John Rose will be doing a Snuffy Smith Chalk Talk in Covington, Virginia on Thursday, April 13th at 7:00 pm at the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library. The library is located at 406 West Riverside Street in Covington, Virginia. In his chalk talks, Rose shows samples of his work, talks about the rich history of the comic strip, and draws the strip’s most popular characters on a large easel for the audience. He also talks about his career as a cartoonist and opens the floor for Q and A. For more information, call 540-962-3321.  This event is free and open to the public!

King Features Cartoonists Headline NCS Roanoke, Va., Event On Oct. 8

King Features cartoonists Marcus Hamilton (Dennis The Menace dailies), Gary Brookins (Shoe, Pluggers) and John Rose (Barney Google and Snuffy Smith) will be the featured speakers for the Southeast Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society’s annual Fall Meeting in Roanoke, Va., on Saturday, October 8th.

Barney Google and Snuffy Smith cartoonist, John Rose, will speak at the Rockbridge Regional Public Library as part of their “Beating The Winter Blahs” series. Rose will speak about his career as a cartoonist, show samples of his work and then create drawings on a large tablet for the audience of the characters in his popular Snuffy Smith comic strip.  He will also have copies of his book, The Bodacious Best Of Snuffy Smith available.
